Fleetwood Motor Home Owners
The Fleetwood Motorhome Association was formed with support from Fleetwood RV. The Association is open to all owners of motor homes built by Fleetwood and American Coach.
Who are we?
We are members of the Fleetwood Motorhome Association (FMA) which consists of owners of all Fleetwood motor home motorized products. Fleetwood RV (the new name for Fleetwood Enterprise) is the manufacturer of Fleetwood and American coach units in Decatur, Indiana. Our owners include first time owners, pre-owned motor home owners and full-time owners that have been touring the US for many years. We have arranged for rallies that should meet the needs of owners that are retired, those still working and raising a family.
We are a "Family Friendly oriented group of people out to meet new friends and enjoy camaraderie, fellowship and share good times while attending our rallies".
Why we exist?
As Fleetwood owners, we felt the time had come to organize a motor home association which included all the models of motor homes that Fleetwood manufactured. There were several organizations that represented a single or limited Fleetwood model motor home but membership was restricted to owners of that particular model only.
Since we both owned Fleetwood motor homes and have enjoyed the support we have received from the company, it was obvious that if an organization were formed where all Fleetwood owners could experience this support and care, it would prove to be a marketing benefit to the manufacturer. As an added incentive, and with Fleetwood's blessing and support, we felt there should be no requirement to have any kind of fee structure for membership in the FMA, thus, removing any objection to joining. One of the founding couples is full-timers; in fact they have spent over 20 years traveling the US, Canada, Mexico and living in their motor home. Another founding couple has enjoyed camping and their recreation outings for nearly 40 years We started by sleeping under the stars, moved up to a tent, then a pick-up and camper, two different FW trailers and finally moving to a motor home. As you see we started slow and small and as we grow more seasoned we think about down-sizing. We struggled knowing what to purchase when we went from a camper to a trailer, then on to a motor home. We were members of some national groups but while working we didn't become involved to any degree. Now, as we think about going back to a smaller unit, we have people we can communicate with and help lead us to a decision.
What benefit does FMA provide the members?
It provides the FMA members the opportunity to meet old friends and make new acquaintances as well as visit with people that own a full range of FW motor homes. When you are ready to consider purchasing a new motor home, you will have the opportunity to share experiences and compare various models, particularly if you are interested in upgrading your present motor home or considering down-sizing. - The FW Company manufactures a wide range of motor homes, from Class "C" to 45' Class "A", this also covers a wide price range.
- Members with a young family have different needs in a motor home than those where the kids have flown the coup.
- As the hair turns grayer or falls out all together we might want to go from the bigger motor home to one that moves Mom and Dad from the cool weather in the north to the warmer weather in the south.
- As members of FMA, we have the opportunity to meet Corporate Officers, Engineers, Service Technicians and other team members of FW.
- At rallies FW Service Technicians will perform minor and some time major service on you motor home of any age at a reduced cost.
- There are three rallies a year, one in the east (usually in January or February), one in the West (usually in February or March) and the National in the middle of the country in June.
- The National Rally is held in the summer so families with children and grand children can attend.
- Proving we are a "Family Friendly" group, we welcome and plan activities for children at our national rallies.
- Regional groups are encouraged to form chapters. A chapter can not be exclusive to a class or brand name only; they must include all FM motor home owners.
- There are no dues to join FMA, the Association is FW supported.
Fleetwood Motorhome Association is a non-profit organization, with by-laws and operating policies managed by seven elected officers. The officers include, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, one each Representative for Class "A" Diesel, Class "A" Gas and Class "C" Motor homes.
